Interact
is a service and social club for high school students. We are sponsored
by Tracy Sunrise Rotary (a club for adults), which guides us in
developing local and international service projects. By the end of the
year we will have our first intenational trip under our belts. We are
planning to go to Mexico to build refurbished playgrounds for a
community park.
Some
of the activities we participate in out side of school have been The
Great Day of Service where we helped clean up The Boys and Girls Club
and Monticello,
March of Dimes for premature babies, and Kids in a Box to raise money
for the McHenry House. We have also helped Operation Provide Support
send soldier packages overseas.
The
club was established in February 2007 and had around 12 members. In the
last year, we have grown to around 40 active members.
We
made our project of the year the McHenry House Homeless Shelter. We
have visited many times with the kids running game nights, Easter egg hunts (both for Easter and Halloween) and making Christmas ornaments.
