Planned Community Service Activities 2006-2007
Tracy Interfaith Ministries will be the primary focus of our Community Service activities for this years. Tracy Sunrise Rotary will assist TIM with there move possibly in the Fall/Winter 2006, however prior to that we will need to work on some type of a fund raiser to assist with the cost of office furniture and computers. Approx. $10,000 will be needed. Current planned activities are a Casino Poker night with 40 tables of 8. Current concerns are location of a venue large enough to house a large crowd. Once the venue has been determined then a date can be set. Updates to follow.
2. DARE has indicated they have a financial need approx $5,000. So a secondary fundraiser will be needed to assist. Currently a Simplified Grant application has been written and submitted to assist with these fundraising efforts.
Other activities will include but are not limited to:
a. Hometown Hero’s (quarterly beginning late September)
b. Blood drive (October)
c. Coat/Jacket drive (December)
d. Delta Island Beautification (September)
e. Senior Thanksgiving dinner (November)
f. St. Patrick’s Day dinner (March)
g. Senior /Safety partnership (quarterly beginning August)
We will also need to vote for “New Rotarian of the Year”
“Silent Rotarian”
“Service Above Self Award”
Fundraising ideas include:
Hot Rod/Car Show
Golf tournament
Fun Run
Comedy Night
Tracy Poker tournament
The consensus for a fundraiser at our last meeting was the Poker Tournament however to date I do not have additional information to share with the board. Anyone familiar with this type of event can call or email me with any information and I will make the contacts.
I am also working on possibly applying for and acquiring numerous H3 Simplified grants. These grants are for $1000.00 each and there is approx. $45,000.00 available for the taking. Once I have all the specific criteria I will update the board.
It is going to be a very busy year with a lot of variety hopefully something for everyone. Any questions or suggestions please feel free to let either myself or Joe Schlemer know.
